The Band of the Guardia di Finanza was officially founded in 1926, bringing together in a single instrumental ensemble the various Fanfares that had been established since 1883 at some of the Corps' Departments. It is currently a stable artistic ensemble composed from of a Master Conductor, a Master Deputy Conductor and 102 performers drawn from various Italian conservatories and incorporated, through careful selection, through a national competition. During its long and intense concert activity, the Band has performed at the most prestigious Italian musical institutions includingAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, La Scala in Milan, San Carlo in Naples, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Massimo and Politeama in Palermo, Fenice in Venice, Bellini in Catania, Flavio Vespasiano in Rieti and Petruzzelli in Bari. Numerous and appreciated were the concerts in the Basilica of Maxentius to Rome and repeated collaborations with some of the most established Italian and international symphony orchestras such as the RAI in Rome, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Spoleto Festival. The entire Band Ensemble has repeatedly traveled abroad where it has made successful tours to Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, France, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. In particular in 2002 to New York, on the occasion of the Columbus Day celebrations, held an engaging and emotional concert to Ground Zero, a symbolic place of American national consciousness after the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Fusion skills, sound quality and interpretive sensitivity make the Band Ensemble one of the most prestigious to international level and ensure its continued success with audiences and critics.
Its vast repertoire, including original pieces and transcriptions, allows it to range from classical to to contemporary music and can be considered among the most significant and comprehensive.
Prestigious and professional Master Directors who have succeeded one another over time include Giuseppe Manente, Antonio D'Elia, Olivio Di Domenico, Fulvio Creux and Gino Bergamini.
Since April 16, 2002, the director of the Musical Band has been Lt. Col. Leonardo Laserra Ingrosso.

The Song of the Italians
Born in Avetrana, in the province of Taranto, he completed his musical studies at the same time to as his university studies, graduating in Choral Music and Choir Conducting at the "Gioacchino Rossini" Conservatory in Pesaro, in Composition at the "Niccolò Piccinni" Conservatory in Bari, and in Orchestra Conducting and Band Instrumentation at the "Alfredo Casella" Conservatory in L'Aquila. In 2009, he obtained the Biennium Advanced Specialization in Band Instrumentation at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome. From 1991 to 1996 he taught composition at the Liceo Musicale "Giovanni Paisiello" in Taranto and performed several times as conductor and accompanist pianist in various types of musical ensembles. Winner of the National Competition for the teaching of Harmony and Counterpoint in State Music Conservatories, in 2002 he became Master Conductor of the Guardia di Finanza Music Band. He is regularly invited as a juror to major national and international competitions, including the International Competition of Original Compositions for Band in Novi Ligure, and from 2004 to 2007 he served on the selection committee of candidates from the Academy of Song for the Sanremo Festival. In July 2006 he performed a series of concerts in the United States as guest conductor of the Atlantic Brass Band of New Jersey.
