Synopsis

"to barefoot in the park" is a famous and delightful humorous and sentimental comedy that unfolds on the wings of a text with virtually perfect mechanisms.

The Author, Neil Simon, from the United States, is unanimously considered one of the greatest playwrights and screenwriters of the contemporary era. His plays are translated and performed all over the world, making him one of the most widely performed living playwrights.

Striking and surprising is the great impact of topicality of the piéces, a sign of a timelessopera , which succeeds to pose with refined lightness the theme of the dynamics and deep problems in the relationship of a couple and, more generally, in emotional relationships.

In this text, different generations and characters are compared where immedesimation to multiple levels emerges as a natural consequence.

Precisely because of the great bewilderment that surrounds us today, we find it stimulating and interesting to be able to provoke intimate and profound reflections in the audience through the play in a graceful and entertaining way.

The installation, created in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Macerata, is presented, in its absolute debut for the 54th edition of the Festival dei 2Mondi, in the magnificent setting of the Cloister of San Nicolò, which offers an extremely unusual and almost unique opportunity to perform the text.

The original text of the play has been retranslated and adapted to make it even more effective and appropriate for current times and the very special location where it is set.

The painting is courtesy of VINCENT
