Hundreds of elementary school students for the preview of the 67th edition of the Festival dedicated to young children

For more than 900 children and families in Spoleto, Festival dei Due Mondi has already begun. The two-day preview of the 67th edition of the Spoleto Festival, an entire weekend dedicated to the youngest with the initiative Music is a game from kids, was a great success: the educational-musical project for elementary school conceived by the Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi together with the Orchestra from Camera di Perugia guided spectators to discover some masterpieces of the classical repertoire. 600 children from 37 classes from 10 local schools participated in music workshops on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, arriving at the theater after following a propaedeutic course in the classroom. Also waiting for them in the Foyer was a small exhibition with drawings to theme made in class while another 200 drawings made from setting for the musical story. Great enthusiasm was aroused by the double program among the young audience members, accompanied by their families and teachers. With the reciting voice of Enrico Bindocci, the orchestra led them through two masterpieces of music: Igor Stravinsky'sHistoire du Soldat (Saturday, May 18) and Felix Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Sunday, May 19) with a personal and engaging language. The project was born from an effective collaboration between the Foundation and area institutions: the significant contribution of enthusiasm and ideas shared with directors and teachers is another step in the direction of true social participation and in building a community in dialogue between the city and the Festival.

After the classroom workshops and preview events, the next stage awaiting the children will now be during the Festival, with special performances of the Midday Concerts scheduled for Friday, July 5 at 4:30 p.m. at Stella Auditorium(Histoire du soldat) and friday July 12, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Agatha's Church(Dreams...of a Midsummer Night).
