Spoleto 65: the evolution of the forms

Press preview with the international artists of Spoleto 65

Spoleto, 10 January 2022 – The 65th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto will take place from 24 June to 10 July 2022. Director Monique Veaute announced the news during a press meeting with culture minister Dario Franceschini and Andrea Sisti, President of the Foundation, with contributions from various artists from the programme, including soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan, fado expert Mariza, directors Jeanne Candel, Thomas Ostermeier and Leonardo Lidi, and the choreographers Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Blanca Li. With this sneak preview of a selection of the projects, the Festival provides a taste of the overall artistic concept. In doing so, it places the spotlight on a 2022 programme that will feature some of the finest international talent on theatre stages, in open spaces and in unconventional venues, ensuring that Spoleto continues to provide an offering like no other in Italy.

For her second year as artistic director, Monique Veaute continues her multidisciplinary and international focus, weaving a web of connections across the arts and this year providing three programmatic themes: the music of the two worlds, the voice of women, and new ways of recounting music.
