Francesco Tristano

Production Club Culture for Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, in collaboration with Basemental

Duration: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Pianist, composer, experimental techno and jazz musician, Francesco Tristano is a fine interpreter of historical repertoire, and is well-versed in the expressive potential of technology. Trained at Julliard in New York, Tristano combines the keyboard with the mixing desk, the concert hall with the club, baroque, 20th and 21st-century works with electronic music.
The modularity and contrapuntal architecture of baroque music means it is often interpolated by contemporary musicians. This event is part of the project The New Bach Players, an international ensemble that has recorded the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach for piano and orchestra as well as several projects of contemporary music. On this occasion, Francesco Tristano collaborates with Italian musicians led by Ambra Chiara Michelangeli in a program that combines three concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach with original electronic compositions by Francesco Tristano and the rhythmic counterpoint of the versatile German percussionist Ruven Ruppig.
