You are invited to attend the greatest ball in Paris!
Winner of the Leone d’Oro in the “Venice VR Expanded” section at the 78ᵃ Venice International Film Festival, Le Bal de Paris is an immersive, participatory and interactive experience created by the impetuous Andalusian choreographer Blanca Li to spectacularly discover virtual reality through dance and music. Gymnast, dancer, choreographer and director, student of Martha Graham, Blanca Li has performed in hundreds of venues around the world with no less than seventeen creations. After Elektrik, Solstice, Goddesses & Demons, a duet on femininity danced together with Bol’šoj Ballet Etoile Maria Alexandrova, and Robot!, in which she combines choreography for dancers and the humanoid robot NAO, the Spanish artist embodies like few others the meeting of different artistic experiences and the ability to direct change.
“I wanted to create a show that didn’t exist yet and that I couldn’t have imagined twenty years ago: this is what excites me” says the choreographer about her latest work Le Bal de Paris. In the Sala XVII Settembre of the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti she stages a total show, an immersion in an unreal and timeless universe – at the same time retro, futuristic, classical, contemporary – created digitally.
The spectator, thanks to the use of augmented reality, optical visors and movement sensors, is invited to assist to the scenic action, but also to be the protagonist dancing and interacting with the live dancers. The virtual experience transports the audience into the vortex of a great love story, involving them in an entertaining and absolutely innovative show designed to be experienced with total body awareness.
