Synopsis

The musical proposal of the Cartagena Festival Internacional de Música at the Spoleto Festival declines with two Colombian groups presenting different musical genres. The first, composed of cellist Santiago Canyon and pianist Luis Andrés Castellanos, bases its roots in traditional Colombian classical music. The second, Cuarteto Agile, formed from Elvis Diaz on llanera harp, Zahira Nogueira on cuatro, Mario Criales on double bass and Antonio Arredo on instruments to wind, is more related to the country's traditional folk music.

Cuarteto Agile presents traditional folk songs originating in parts of Colombia, particularly the llanera region. The instruments used are the llanera harp, cuatro and double bass, to which a to wind instrument is added to make the contemporary fusion more effective.

The music of Los llanos is characterized from a wide variety of rhythms and plays a very important role in the heritage of Colombian musical culture. Some traditional songs are interpreted in a modern key.
