La scoperta del Teatro
Once again this year, the Festival dei 2Mondi meets the world of schools, calling young people to rediscover a cultural identity closely connected precisely to the birth and development of the Spoleto Festival.
The festival is us, in its fifth edition, is aimed at pupils of primary and secondary schools in grades I and II in the city of Spoleto.
The discovery of the Theater, the theme of this year's project, is meant to be an invitation to search, learn and reconstruct the history of the Festival through some of the places in the city in which, from more than half a century, the event takes place. In fact, Spoleto, Theatre City par excellence, possesses scenic spaces that seem to have been born to host the festival.
The nineteenth-century Gian Carlo Menotti Nuovo Theater and the evocative Teatro Romano host the workshop that welcomes the children of the "XX Settembre" Primary School of Spoleto for a journey to back in time to learn, while having fun, the history of these places, to know their architecture and structure. An activity that brings children to know their way around the alcove and proscenium, to recognize a lattice, to understand the function of the curtain.
The workshops have a playful approach, which aspires to increase knowledge, but also develop perceptive skills, imagination and creativity, stimulating children to communicate, to express themselves and become familiar with the theater, its parts and history. To become, from adults, assiduous and aware spectators.
Accompanying the young visitors in their discovery of the beauty of the theaters are the students of the classical, humanities, art and language high school "Sansi - Leonardi - Volta" of Spoleto, who animate the activities with guided tours, structured according to the practice of peer education, with graphic representations and sets built for the occasion and, finally, with a short play with a final game.
Based on the lived experience, very young students are asked to produce individual or group work within the classroom, with the help and coordination of teachers, to create works of all kinds and forms: written compositions, graphic, audiovisual and digital works.
The award ceremony for the project participants takes place on Thursday, July 9 at Teatro Romano at at 21.00 during the performance Dans les pas de Noureev.
