‍Debussyand Surroundings, perhaps a somewhat conventional title of a cycle of nine concerts - starring the piano - with internationally recognized performers such as Philippe Bianconi, Jin Ju, Sandro De Palma and established young Italian pianists such as Luca Ciammarughi and Maurizio Paciariello. A cycle that could also be titled, conversely, Debussy's Surroundings. The fulcrum of the project is, in fact, the complete body of piano music by the celebrated composer of Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune including rarities such as the original solo version of the Six épigraphes antiques, theÉtude retrouvée (1st vers. of Etude no. 11 "pour les arpèges") and the unknown piece Les soirs illuminés par l'ardeur du charbon given in exchange for coal to cope with the rigors of the winter of 1916-17. But more original appears to be the proposal, observing its plot in transparency: references, suggestions, affinities and contrasts (Wagnerian or anti-Wagnerian?), emerging from the refined pages of composers born in a span of forty years (1842-79), run through the entire program. Anchored in late Romanticism with Massenet, Fauré and Chausson, the arc, oriented decisively to new languages with Debussy, Satie and the surprising Decaux called the French Schönberg, is then closed with stylistic elegance by the epigones Séverac, Hahn and Cras... Woven with subtle allusions, amid plays of masks, reflections in the water, nocturnal "hearings" in the moonlight, the plot unravels symbolic visions of brand new "soundscapes" where twentieth-century man ventures: Looking for his way.

PHILIPPE BIANCONI

Philippe Bianconi began his studies to Nice, where he was born, with Simone Delbert-Fevrier and then studied to Paris with Gaby Casadesus and to Freiburg with Vitalij Margulis. Winner of international competitions, such as the to Belgrade Musical Youth Competition in '77 and the Robert Casadesus Competition in Cleveland in 1981, silver medalist in 1985 at the Van Cliburn Competition, after this last major achievement, he embarked on a brilliant international career in the 1980s, invited by the most important concert institutions, first in the United States and then in Europe. After a highly acclaimed recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, at the invitation of the Festival Piano aux Jacobins, he immediately became the darling of French audiences, making his mark with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse in Schumann's Concerto and Brahms' 2nd. His recent successes include tours in China (2008, 2010, 2011) and, in 2009, his debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Dutch Philharmonic in Mozart's Concerto in D minor. Despite growing notoriety and success, Bianconi continues on his path, building with patient work, far from from any divine exhibitionism his artistic path, and without betraying his most prized gifts: lyricism, poetry and a rich innate expressiveness. His is always "music that comes from the heart," and at the same time the artist possesses a powerful touch, from authentic virtuoso who can make the piano sing (Washington Post), knows how to give the music a freshness, an incisiveness, "a force of involvement rarely encountered" (The Times - London). Guest of famous orchestras such as Cleveland, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, National de France and many others, under the direction of conductors such as Maazel, von Dohnanyi, Masur, Pretre, Janowski, etc., he also participates to numerous festivals including la Roque d'Anthéron, Piano en Valois, Prades Festival, Mentone and Ravinia Festival in the United States. Passionate about from chamber music, he has collaborated with partners such as Rampal, Starker, Amoyal and Tedi Papavrami, with the Sine Nomine Quartet, Guarneri String Quartett, Quatuor Parisii and Talich Quartet. Outstanding was his experience (from 1983 to 1990) with the great Hermann Prey, who, at the height of his career, wanted him with him for numerous concerts and for the recording of the fascinating Schubertian Lieder cycles Die Schöne Müllerin, Winterreise and Schwanengesang. www.philippebianconi.com

SANDRO DE PALMA

Sandro De Palma is considered among the most interesting performers on the European scene.

Born to Naples, he trained at the school of Vincenzo Vitale and later studied with Nikita Magaloff, who had appreciated his talent by listening to him since from childhood. In fact, De Palma first appeared in public at the age of nine with a program of music by Bach, Chopin and Schubert.

to 19 years old, he won First Prize at the "Alfredo Casella" International Competition in Naples, and two years later he won First Prize at the "Bruce Hungerford Foundation" in New York, which opened the doors to the famous Carnegie Hall for a concert that was greeted with enthusiastic acclaim from audiences and critics.

Among the most significant milestones of his career from report in 1983 the integral performance of Chopin's Etudes at the International Festival "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli" in the venues of Brescia and Bergamo; in 1998 the brilliant success of his debut at the Wigmore Hall in London with Chopin's 24 Preludes. In 2000 he performed at the invitation of Yuri Temirkanov Franz Liszt's Concerto No. l with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

In October 2001 he performed with Andrea Bocelli and Ilia Kim and under the direction of Donato Renzetti, the first performance of ...malinconia, ninfa gentile for singing, two concert pianos and string orchestra by Azio Corghi, who later dedicated to him and to Kim the Suite ...Di bravura tratta from this composition.

Of ...melancholy, gentle nymph was released on disc, to edited by the Presidency of the Senate of Italy. Also in its first performance, he performed Michele Dall'Ongaro's Piano Concerto.

Among the biggest successes was the one obtained at the Berlin Philharmonic playing Franck's Quintet with the "Amarcorde Quartet," and the tour with Šostakovič's Piano and Trumpet Concerto No. 1 with the strings of the famous German orchestra.

Guest of the most important European Festivals: Festival "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli" (editions: 1983, '88, '93, '94, '95, '97, 2002), Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Ljubljana Festival, Ravenna Festival, Settembre Musica in Turin, Ravello Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, etc., He has also made several tours, as a soloist and with orchestra, throughout Europe, the United States, Mexico, Japan - in 2002 and 2006 - and China, where he also played in the Forbidden City.

He is also heavily involved in chamber music.

MAURIZIO PACIARIELLO

Maurizio Paciariello studies with Giuseppe Scotese and Aldo Ciccolini.

He is a prizewinner at the 47th International Competition of ARD in Munchen in 1998 and made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2003.

His recording debut, with the Piano Concerto by German/Danish composer Frederik Kuhlau and, above all, the highly original Concerto in C sharp minor by Swedish composer Franz. Berwald for the Inedita label, reveals the pianist's vocation for research and determination to to tread untrodden paths to create his own repertoire. Also for Inedita, Paciariello published a recording of Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto in E-flat Major WoO 4 (1784), receiving significant praise from Italian and foreign critics.

The research undertaken in rediscovering Beethoven's youthful concerto was followed by the recording of the Rondo in B-flat major and the Concerto in D op.61a, which was greeted with enthusiasm by international musicology and nominated for the Prix International du Disque in Cannes.

The seventh volume of the Beethoven Rarities devoted to the revision of the Concerto Op.58 in the autograph version of 1808 and the Concerto Op.19 with the redaction of the autograph cadence extracted from the Kafka Skizzenbuch in 2012 gets 5 stars from the Music Magazine.

For Tactus, he recorded, with Luca Sanzò, the Sonatas for viola and piano by Lino Liviabella and Nino Rota, and with Marco Rogliano, the complete music for violin and piano by Ottorino Respighi, confirming-as has been written-"his physiognomy as a scholar and intelligence as a performer, attentive to identifying the stylistic peculiarities of works often neglected because they are poorly known."

LUCA CIAMMARUGHI

Luca Ciammarughi recognized among the most profound musicians of his generation, particularly for his interpretation of Schubert and French music, he combines his concert activity with the daily conducting of programs on Radio Classica and his activity as music critic for the historic magazine "Musica." His interest in Lieder also led him to an intense period of in-depth study of the relationship between word and sound, cultivated also in his work as assistant to American pianist Dalton Baldwin. The first volumes of the full-length discography of Schubert's Sonatas garnered rave reviews ("Lyricism, beauty of sound, intimism and tragicism, juxtaposed in a coherent and emotional narrative," according to Riccardo Risaliti. "The young Brendel, in 1962, was much more neutral," according to Luca Segalla). He has played for prestigious Italian and European institutions and concert halls, including: Festival dei 2Mondi in Spoleto, Mito Settembre Musica, Taormina Arte, La Verdi, Compagnia Carlo Colla & figli, Società dei Concerti in Milan, Festival Liederiadi, Festival Amfiteatrof, SpazioTeatro89, Teatro Dal Verme, Festival Guadalquivir in Spain, European Union Youth Orchestra, Salle Cortot in Paris. He made his US debut at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston. A frequent guest to Radio Tre Rai, he has rediscovered little-explored composers, including Maurice Emmanuel and Reynaldo Hahn. He carried out his studies at the Milan Conservatory, graduating with honors in piano, under the guidance of Paolo Bordoni, and with honorable mention in vocal music from chamber, under the guidance of Stelia Doz. Since 2010, he has been the artistic director of the "Settimana in musica" Festival in Clusone.

Jin Ju is also establishing himself as one of the most internationally interesting names in the field of performance on historical instruments. His recording of the Yellow River Piano Concerto with the Macao Symphony Orchestra achieved tremendous circulation throughout China, so from much so that it was listed among the world's top 10 hits for classical music. The first disc he recorded in the West, released on the Frame label with the complete Debussy Etudes, was received with great enthusiasm from leading critics in professional journals. In summer 2010 Jin Ju signed an exclusive contract with the German label MDG. Two first CDs were released in 2011: the first, released in January and dedicated to Schumann, received important international reviews; the second, from December 2011, dedicated to two great sonatas such as Beethoven'sAppassionata and Schubert's Sonata in C minor D958 plus the unusual Variations on Czerny's La Ricordanza, was awarded the 2012 ECHO Klassik Award as Best Record of the Year in the "19th Century/Piano" category. www.jinju.it
