Synopsis

The Festival dei Due Mondi, under the patronage of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, presents the Review
Cinema and Psychoanalysis to following a collaboration between the Psychoanalytic Center of Rome and the Experimental Center of Cinematography.
The Review focuses on the patient-analyst relationship in the different ways in which it is represented on the screen: with ambiguity, sometimes with ironic and caricatured aspects, always stretched in an impossible search for the multiple emotional aspects at stake.
Alongside to great successes of foreign and Italian directors, a short film will be presented as a national premiere, Lo schermo opaco, by Paolo Boccara and Giuseppe Riefolo, an unprecedented and exciting reflection on the close relationship between cinema and the unconscious, with clips from films by different authors alternating with interviews to well-known Italian psychoanalysts (Stefano Bolognini, Anna Ferruta, Nino Ferro, Franco Borgogno).
The feature film The Pervert's Guide to the Cinema by Slavoj Zizek will also be screened during the festival: an essential film for cinephiles, but also for anyone interested in the timeless
ability of cinema to shape desires, to ignite dreams.
The three-day festival will begin at at 15.30 and will consist of screenings, meetings with authors and performers and open discussion between the audience and psychoanalysts.
