Fausto Cabra
Born in Brescia, he studied aerospace engineering, graduated with Luca Ronconi at the Piccolo Theatre School in Milan in 2005 and continued his training at the École des Maîtres with Carlo Cecchi. He was directed by Ronconi at the Piccolo Teatro in many productions (not least as a main part in Stefano Massini’s Trilogia Lehman). At the Piccolo Teatro, he has also worked with Declan Donnellan (in Thomas Middleton’s The Revenger’s Tragedy), Robert Carsen and Giorgio Sangati (as Harlequin in Goldoni’s Le donne gelose). At the Teatro Stabile di Torino, he has worked with directors Walter Le Moli, Victor Arditti, Claudio Longhi —with whom went on to work frequently at the Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione and the Teatro di Roma —Mario Martone (La morte di Danton) and Valerio Binasco (Amleto). He has collaborated with ricci/forte for over 10 years (Troia’s Discount, 100% Furioso, Macadamia Nut Brittle) and appeared in numerous shows at the Globe Theater in Rome, not least as Mercutio in Gigi Proietti’s production of Romeo e Giulietta. In 2012, he met Declan Donnellan at the Venice Biennale and went on to collaborate with him in three consecutive summers. At the Centro Teatrale di Brescia, he has been directed by Giorgio Sangati, Andrea Chiodi, Elena Bucci, Marco Sgrosso and Daniele Salvo, as well as appearing in I due gentiluomini di Verona(with the company of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto directed by Giorgio Sangati). He has also worked with Carlo Cecchi, Israel Horovitz, Giacomo Bisordi and with independent companies such as PianoInBilico, Gli Incauti and Teatro Bresci. As a director, he has led productions of Macbeth for the Teatro Bresci, La Storia(based on the novel by Elsa Morante), Autoritratti, Evolution, Voci da dentro and Calma Musa for the Teatro stabile di Brescia. He has appeared in films including L’estate d’inverno, In Guerra, Dove non ho mai abitato, Liberation and Soledad. His numerous accolades include the Salvo Randone, Ernesto Calindri and Hystrio/Mariangela Melato awards.
