Spoleto, July 28, 2022 - to starting from Saturday, July 30, it will once again be possible, until October 2, to visit the exhibition itineraries proposed by Festival dei Due Mondi during last year's edition at Palazzo Collicola, to Casa Menotti and in the former Monte di Pietà building on Via Saffi, dedicated to the founder of the Festival Gian Carlo Menotti. On the tracks of Gian Carlo Menotti is a narrative journey that is part of the broader project of heritage recovery and enhancement that the Foundation has been pursuing since last year with deep interest. It also reopens the sales outlet in Via Saffi, where official Festival merchandise will be available.Admission to the exhibitions is free, during the hours indicated on the website www.festivaldispoleto.com.Palazzo Collicola hosts the second chapter of the exhibition Frammenti di un percorso teatrale, a tribute to Menotti on stage. The new exhibit - like last year's to curated by Piero Maccarinelli with the collaboration of Monica Trevisani - continues through the enhancement of the work of workers, seamstresses, set designers and photographers, and is enriched with costumes, posters, props and photos of Festival productions that also featured Gian Carlo Menotti as director. These include Nozze di Figaro from 1990, Carmen and The Love of Three Oranges from 1962, Ariadne to Naxos from 1984 and The Nose from 1995.The exhibition The Menotti Years 1958-1998-in Via Saffi, in the former Monte di Pietà building-is a glimpse into the Maestro's personal universe, his friends, his artists, his insights. Previously unpublished photos, films and sketches recount the atmosphere of the Festival in those years. The complete exhibition of the original costumes and sketches of the 1972Rise and Ruin of the City of Mahagonny-designed by costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, Oscar winner for 1994's The Age of Innocence-and the costumes of 1969'sItaliana in Algeri amply testify to the richness of Menotti's productions. Thanks to the collaboration with the Istituto Luce, moreover, the exhibition includes photographs and videos that tell of the worldliness and internationality of the "Menotti years".The last stop on the itinerary is the Menotti House Festival Documentation Center, created by the Monini Foundation and in collaboration then with the Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi and the Municipality of Spoleto. Thanks to a multimedia and interactive set-up that allows, among other things, to view theatrical sets revisited in a high-tech key, programs, catalogs, historical films and projections of operas and performances, it will be like taking a real leap into the past to discover that event called Festival dei Due Mondi that Gian Carlo Menotti conceived, founded and made famous in the world.
